Wednesday highlights: Are you ready to build your brand?

The third of our masterclass series for Global Entrepreneurship Week took off today with the theme “Are you ready to build your brand?”

The room was full of small business founders who turned up to hear from our panel of experts and to participate in our masterclass run by brand and communications expert Emma Sexton. Check out day three here:

In case you missed it, here are some of our favourite tips and comments from this morning…

Olly Bolton – VOOM 2015 Crowdfunder winner and founder of What a Melon gave his advice on how to make your brand stand out… even when you’re a newcomer.

Irene Agbontaen – founder of TTYA London – was asked about how she found the audience for her brand to speak to…

Ernestina Potts – founder of Milktooth London and Head of Campaigns at Virgin, gave some tips on the best practice for building brand awareness.

Also joining us on our panel was the colourful founder of Morning Gloryville, Samantha Moyo, who told us about how important it is for your brand to reflect you.

This led on to our masterclass with Emma Sexton, who got the business founders in the room to re-evaluate if their brand speaks to the right audience and whether the message it gives reflects what the company is about. The key learnings from the masterclass were:

1. Focus on how your community can emotionally relate to your brand.

2. Have a clear idea of what you want your brand to reflect.

3. Consider all aspects of your basic brand package.

The morning ended with our small business founders sharing their business pledges and ambitions. Robyn from Heroine, Ricky from T-sticks and Chloe Kute all had a go and received feedback from Natalie Campbell our MC and their peers in the audience.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in today’s event online or in person.

Next up is tomorrow’s masterclass “Are you ready to change the world?” run by Albert Chong. You can tune in our live stream at 9am by following @vmpioneers on Twitter.
