The Round-up: Big wins…and fabulous smalls

What’s been happening in Pioneer-land, this week? Turns out, quite a lot:

Pioneers of the Week: Gerry and Jamie from the Department of Curiosities

Deprtment of Curiosities.jpgWe catch up with Gerry Quinton and Jamie Hayes @DOC in their Chicago studio.

These fabulously overachieving underwear, sustainable clothing and corset designers explain how to avoid burnout, about making mistakes on other people’s money and create fabulous undies. But they'd like some marketing advice... Take a peek.

Nat Peat makes the #BAME100!

In FTSE 100 companies, the number of people from ethnic minority backgrounds in top jobs has fallen by 18%1.

So this list, which celebrates ethnic diversity in business, is great news not just for green energy entrepreneur, @Nat_Peat, but for the UK economy too. Congratulations Nat, one of our very international pioneers, this is great recognition of your work.

The Voom Podcast 4: Sports edition

Podcast Episode 4.pngHigh performance is the name of the game. Host Nikki Bedi discusses genetics, nutrition, and the technology of winning with Simon Mottram, founder of Rapha and Avi Lasarow from DNAFit.

And Sylvain Filippi, CTO of DS Virgin Racing chats with our very own @Chris_Reed about Formula E (electric cars take on the racetrack). Epic stuff!

There was also this Brunch with Richard Branson that we met some of you at... Listen now.

Cakes with Faces’ Coventry takeover

Amy Crabtree, @cakeswithfaces, designer and owner of quirky fashion and design store, Cakes With Faces has just been shortlisted for the Coventry Telegraph’s Business Entrepreneur of the Year. Good luck, Amy!

The Cheeky Panda are on a roll

And another bit of happy news, this time for panda (and planet) loving people: Wholefoods ran out of The Cheeky Panda’s ultra sustainable toilet paper. Textbook launch, guys. Well done Chris @TheCheekyPanda and Julie @thecheekypanda1!

Scotland, here we come

The Voom Tour heads up to bonny Scotland and there’s plenty of business boosting advice (and a truckload of coffee) as we hit up Glasgow on 2 November. See you there?
