It’s interesting to note that one of the most topical subjects on this platform is the ‘Voom Voting System’, and that’s understandable as it is only the top 40 in each category with the most public votes will go through to the semi-finals. Not to forget the chance of winning one of the special awards as well.
Getting a high number of votes can be quite a challenge, but certainly achievable. The key is to have a plan of action as to things you will be doing over the duration of the competition and then executing your ideas.
This is especially crucial if you have a business/idea that is perhaps under the radar. However, one sure way to get noticed is by climbing to the top of the leader board.
One person commented on this platform that there are ideas that are ‘common place’, getting a large number of votes. Well that is to be commended as these entrepreneurs, in the true spirit of the word have no doubt worked hard to get those votes.
At the time of writing this post, I noticed that there are some 39 clients on ‘Nul Points’, so I would like to give some ideas on what can be done to improve all Voom pioneers chances of finishing in the top 40 and getting through to the semi-finals which is going to be truly awesome.
In fact, over the next 30 days or so I will add one new idea per day – 30 ideas in total that you may find of benefit to help improve your ranking in the league table.
Of course, a lot of these ideas are very basic and you may be doing the vast majority of them; but I can guarantee you that there will be one or two golden nuggets that you can use to help move your business idea forward.
Now, I am not professing to be an expert on how to secure votes as this is the first voting competition I have entered. Proof of my inexperience can be seen from the fact that my pitch is nowhere near the top of the leader board.
That being said, I started the competition languishing in 80th position and within a week I have climbed almost 40 places to 43rd on the leader board, and my goal is to be in pole position by the 15 May.
Ambitious, yes I know, but that’s the first idea I would like to leave on this post, to quote Oscar Wilde: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars”.
If you aim to win and set about putting a plan of action together then even if you don’t get to first place you will be in the top 40, among the stars so to speak.
I would like to leave two ideas for today; well the first one is not really an idea, but never-the-less for those who haven’t voted as yet key to getting into the top 40.
#Voom Idea No. 1
GET STARTED AND VOTE!
As the saying goes: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. (sorry no more quotes, at least not for today).
For those who haven’t voted as yet the first thing you want to do is to vote.
To my knowledge, there is nothing in the rule book that states that you cannot vote for your business idea. Even political leaders are allowed to cast a vote for themselves.
So that should be your first port of call, vote for your idea and start the ball rolling.
#Voom Idea 2 - Build Your “Everyone You Know” List.
It is very important to develop a list of at least 100-200 people to chart your course to success.
Why so many? It’s because some of the people you think may be keen to support your project might turn out to be complacent or uninspired.
You will find it very encouraging to continue enthusiastically when you still have lots of names still on your list.
Keep it with you and keep adding to your list on a daily basis. Remember, you don’t need any one particular individual to vote for you that’s the beauty of the voting system, it is pretty much a level playing field.
Take the time now to list all the people you know. Do it right away and don’t stop developing this list is a continuous process.
You’ve got until 15 May to generate votes from your colleagues, customers, family… as many people that you come into contact with on a daily bases.
Don’t make the mistake of pre-judging people or assuming they won’t be interested; nothing ventured nothing gained.
In tomorrow’s #Voom Idea No. 3, I will go through three simple steps to enable you to achieve 100-200 Names.
P.S. This has nothing to do with the competition, but I love conundrums, and I would like to pose one here to help you get the little grey cells into working. See if you can work it out, before tomorrow’s post from me.
How could you rearrange the letters in the words "new door" to make one word? Note: There is only one correct answer.
