I own a publisher company. My manifesto vs. mission/vission (as I learned from Richard Branson) is in general words to publish books that give voice to unique and powerful stories from "unknown" authors.
In my project I have been very strong about publishing only on paper, never going digital. I believe the experience of reading is very different in both "platforms".
I have a good delivery process, mostly selling by internet. However sometimes people tell me to open the doors to Kindle, an publish digital.
What do you think about this? Do you consider that having an ebook is a must? or that a publishing company in these days can survive only with paper books? What is your preference?
I really appreciate your advice on this!
Thanks all! Arnulfo

Morning @acnovo my preference is a paper back, however I know the Kindle market is massive and would have thought the ebooks are beneficial for publishers as they reach a much wider audience. I know a lot of people now read on their phone also, so whilst my personal preference is a paper copy I would suggest perhaphs looking at the market and assessing if its beneficial for your target audience to have ebooks. Hope it goes well.

Hi @PlanningHouse! Thanks for replying to my message, I value your opinion, it makes sense. It's funny that almost everyone says that their preference is to read in paper books, but that we all see people out in the streets read in their mobile devices. What I've learned from this is that people like to buy fiction books to read in their mobile devices, and paper books for non-fiction, or books they really treasure and want to keep as trofees. I really hope that the digital wave doesn't kill paper books like iPod killed CDs. Thanks and have a nice day! Arnulfo

Although I still prefer to read the printed word (regularly hang out in bookstore and libraries), I think that going digital is more efficient as well. Many in our generation today keep moving places and would rather keep everything on a digital platform. Moreover, going digital has a wider reach if you wanna reach global.
