I query, how is it that, a business entering a competition no later than 7th May which has no votes on that date, or until the final two days, can ammass a follow so substantial such that they can emerge top 40 in one day.

Welcome to the VOOM Pioneers community.
With regards the VOOM 2018 competition, all concerns should be reported to the compeition team who carry out due diligence on the votes. The team are aware that approaches were made to entrants by unscrupulous companies during the competition, something the team were prepared for.

Thanks for noting my post, yes. Unfortunately the way in which the vote buying is done makes it seem very legitimate so it would be interesting to see if they are detected.
Sigh, we place trust in the 'sophisticated software' and I really hope it comes through.

Have you reported this to the competition team?
If not we encourage you to do so, or if you prefer you can contact me via private message here with any evidence you hold.
Many thanks for alerting us

Unfortunately not, I'd be interested to see if that particular entrant is detected. (or the many others).

Please can you advise us of your connection to the competition, and why haven't you reported it? With-holding this information does not make sense.
So far the competition team have been able to look into all allegations and as mentioned above are carrying out due dilligence now on the entries. The more information available the fairer the competiton can be for all taking part.
