I came up with an idea of creating a nightclub that is app lead and run. But I don't even know where to start in terms of turn this small idea into the real thing. I want to start by creating a team of people who are interested and are experts in the app developing world. Any help on how I can go about protecting my idea whilst finding ways to draw in investments?

Welcome to the community!
Sounds like you have an interesting idea there, and yes protecting ideas is an important consideration for anyone starting up. We have many entrepreneurs who will be interested to know how others in the community dealt with this.
As well as here, we have today's #AskAPioneer Q&A at 12pm on Twitter with @robfnunn who might be able to help with funding questions.

I know you may not want to hear this, but sometimes you need to bite the bullet and share your idea a bit more widely to get people signed up to support.
When I launched my business we had quite a bit of competition - but we charged ahead and worked on being the "best" at it - still going fiev years later (thanks to a Start Up Loan) and we networked heavily in the lead-up to launch to ensure we gathered as much advice and support as we needed to get going and gain traction.
I understand you are trying to be vague on your question to protect your idea, but I don't quite understand what it is you are trying to build? A nightclub that you visit in your living room via an app? I may have that completely wrong and forgive me if so!

The idea is to create a venue that is run through an app. For example customers will order their drinks through the app and see their drinks made through a glass window. This is because waiting to get a drink in a club is the bane of most people's nights. Customers can send requests for example for toilets to be cleaned, contact a bouncer etc. Also staff can communicate with each through the app. The idea is to create a venue that is tech advanced and prides itself on offering a safer and more efficient way of clubbing. In the future the app could also help singles meet. I work in a club and how disorganised it can be just due to lack of communication is easily avoidable. Also the loud music doesn't help at all. The venue will have a separate area were customers can collect drinks.

Sounds like a different sort of venue, I like it. Its similar in terms of speed and efficency to the pubs which now have self serve walls where you pay and pour your own drinks http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/ipub-welcome-britains-first-self-service-7933573 however you'd still have to queue or the ipad driven London venue: https://www.designmynight.com/london/pubs/waterloo/the-thirsty-bear/new-bar-spy this one sounds a bit closert to your idea (but not as complex). Perhaps a trip to visit the London pub may be a good indication of what they do in comparison to your idea and how you can develop your idea further.
I know I met with a pub owner (high end bars) in Newcastle a few weeks ago who was looking to develop a new idea for the next big thing for his pubs, so perhaphs a call to a few establishments to gain ethusiam and then launch crowdfunder?
I look forward to seing your technology develop, kind regards Chris

Loving Planning House's response above - much the same as what I'd say - sounds brilliant! Good luck!
