I dont know Carlos Slim Helu however I like what he says here. In a similar vein to that quotation....John Templeton's maxim for successful business was enigmatic and simple "If your not making enough your not giving enough" (or there abouts). It made sense to him in the 80's and it makes a lot more sense now in the current decade. I think we might be progressing ever so slightly. Also excellent advice from Bill Gates and the key philosophy for change that our politicos could do with taking to heart... yes today is election day.
To be fair to Ambani, the quote lacks context and I dont know of them... growth is a way of life for not so pleasant things also and unpleasant things may have the drive to grow at all times... does it not sound just a little like the brief for a carcinogen or say an oligarch operating on the wrong side of the tracks? I am less forgiving because of the high carbon nature of the business their seeking to grow. In the petrochemical sector? What sort of growth; growth could well be seen as less important than diversification. Ah I see the last 2 are there to wind us up! But I have nothing against hard work the crescendo or is it the trajectory of what he says sounds hazardous.

I admire and respect all of these gentelemen and their quotes are simply, insipirational, but if I had to pick one, Mukesh Ambani's strikes close to home. I believe in growth and progress, everything that is alive has to grow, this also extends to businesses, one of my favourite artists of all time, Lil' Wayne. sums it up best: Love. Live. Life. Proceed. Progress.

I respect all of the people whose quotes are listed above. My own personal quote is Difficult takes a day and impossible takes a week if you keep your eyes on the prize. The one from above that resonates with me the most is:

“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.”
- Warren Buffett. Investor.

This is because I run a publishing business and we secure advertisers and readers because of our reputation which it has taken us time to build. So I feel that this is very important to not let that take a knock in anyway.
